Startup Refugees is one of the leading NGOs in Finland that helps asylum seekers and refugees by assisting them with starting a business or finding employment. I met with Maiju Mitrunen, the Head of Business & Employment Programs, in their office in Helsinki and we talked a little bit about the work they do. 

This Interview with Mr. Vladimir Yakunin the director and founder of the World Public Forum on Dialogue of Civilizations (WPF DoC), was conducted in a press conference on the 10th of October 2015 in Rhodes, Greece. Questions were asked by journalists from different international media.

Racism, inequality and structural violence have been part of the everyday life of the Sámi people for hundreds of years. The Sámi are Europe’s only indigenous people, located in Norway, Sweden, Finland and Russia, and suffer from being a minority. The Sámi aspire to live in harmony with nature, and pursue a sustainable relationship with the land they live on. A continued denial of rights to make decisions about the land they own as an indigenous population has led to hundreds of years of confrontation – a struggle which has recently begun to gather momentum.

IT WAS an ordinary day in Toronto, until an announcement beckoned Jonathan Hobin and his fellow photography students to the radio and TV building. There, they watched in horror as the first of the two towers eroded, and the second plane hit its twin. The date was 11 September 2001.
